Residents survived a fire that enveloped a house in Gillieston Heights on Tuesday night.
Just before 5:00 PM, the Fire and Rescue crews opposite Hunter arrived at the scene on Holland Street to find a single-story house with a large amount of smoke coming out of the roof.
Firefighters tried to contain the fire while preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring properties.
More than twenty firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service worked for over an hour to put out the fire.
While the house was seriously damaged, the firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding houses.
One person was treated by NSW Ambulance for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Research on the cause of the fire continues.
